Today in a jolly mood,
I walked down my village road.
Dried straw heather and tether,
But settled dust since a year.
Once it was narrow and earthen,
Walked on it many a human.
Herds of cattle, goat and sheep,
Gave shade and breeze to all men.
Haunted by birds and filming flies,
Some were chirping, some were buzzing.
Sang in the fields the village lass,
And sang the farmer from the grass.
With the village sang the road,
Goaded the herds with the prod.
But have changed the road I walked,
And have changed the cart and sled,
It has become metaled and concrete,
So have the hearts and village pleat.
No more heard the divine song,
Stories of sacred old men year long.
In place I saw many a vagabond,
Along the road with many a tagalong.
Neither the hearts of the village men,
Exist, nor the melody of village rain.
And the dusty soil's fragrance,
Spreading village women's cogence.
Now my village road is noisy and shiny,
Engaged more in earning money.
