When am anxious
Afraid of tomorrow
Insecure of my present
Or ashamed of my past
I watch the television 📺
Seeing the stories of mortals
Like me, trying to live
Despite their challenges
Crimes, death, money, family
Famine, war, opulence, music
Seeing them live
Beyond their struggles
Being in front of a camera
To share their stories
Their pain, their victory
Their laughs, their prayers
I watch the television
Because their stories give me hope
Telling me am not alone
Maybe better, consoling me
I haven't been before a camera
But my story has been told
By everyone
Who has been before a camera
Because my life dilemmas
Are the same
As those in each corner
Of this world, everywhere
So before I tell my story to the camera
Here is a poem to soothe you today
Tomorrow I might be on the television
But until then...
When anxiety is great within you
Remember we are many
We overcome everyday
And live to tell our stories
Just watch the television 📺
You will see me, us, everyone
Your yesterday,
Your today and tomorrow
You shall see your story being told
By those that were anxious
