WE STILL RISE
our lives in pain,
Everything has changed, but our desire remains the same.
We look forward, trying to hold on to what’s strong,
In order to rest— no, no, no, it’s not correct.
We hold on to something like a pillar, for rest to have hope.
But there is no ‘we’— we push through all the pain
Because we want to survive, because we want to make ourselves proud.
Yet everything is pushed within.
People destroy, people take, people kill,
Because they don’t want others to survive.
But we, the less privileged, we try our best to push it through,
We try our best to let them know that we are strong—
No matter what happens, we are strong, and always will be.
We don’t look back, we look forward, we look on the good side, the brightest side.
They want us to think of the greatest— we are great, we are good.
But the few, the rich, destroy our trust and peace,
They push us into wages because they think they have it all.
They don’t know we are something, we could be something.
One day, everything that is us, that is ours, will be ours.”
