Why do we swim deep within
these oceans of decadence
and ignore the sharks that
rule there in our arrogance.
They create a sense of safety
where there really isn’t any
we might lose a few we think
but they protect the many.
And so we choose not to see
that all we really are is chum
as if the ocean cold has made
our simple minds go numb.
We blindly swim around them
as they eat our friends and family
cuz’ to fight against the sharks
would be considered blasphemy.
And so we feed on their offal waste
because they keep it to themselves
that when we consume their waste
we actually feed upon ourselves.
For now we continue to happily swim
In these bloody oceans of our dead
when each of us should really be
swimming around in dread.
