There is no jolly fat man
Living in a home above ice and snow
In a house with toys for the young
There is no fat red suit saying "Ho Ho Ho"...
Reindeer cannot fly for one night
Pulling said "fat man" in a sleigh with toys
It's all the Mommy's, Daddy's, Uncles and Granny's
Who decide if you were good girls and boys...
This time year is of cut throat competition
When many well to do give gifts that say "Look At Me"!!!
The neighborhood children with hearts of stone
So why all the false smiles and smug elation???
This time of year is one of desperation
With the money mongers filling their accounts
The one time of year kindness foggy
Closer to the day... the tension mounts...
Oh, I too, am guilty of lying to my children
About "Fat Belly" and his deep "Ho Ho Ho's"
The neighborhood children and mine had a party
I'd leave "as I was a Scrooge" or so the story goes...
The phone would ring, sounds of bells ringing
Imagine 20 kids screaming, "Santa's calling!!!"
Children young and old happily singing
I loved those children and parents singing...
The man on the phone knew every one
Knew ALL who had been good or bad
ALL had a special gift under the tree
Some parents were so borderline mad...
When I came meandering back to the party
The children's joy went beyond glee
Santa talked to the children and parents
I loved the "Santa talked to Me! Me! and Me!!!"
Each season the stores made it impossible
To afford any "Wished For" kinda gift
Through coins coupons they would sift
The buying of such gifts became improbable...
Every year the lies mount ever higher
The Christmas sales begin after Halloween
Black friday causes to the masses pain
The lies of Santa crushes many a dream...
Now you've read my "Holiday???" story
I ask you are you going to lie this year???
We teach our children not to lie...
So how can you lie and be filled with cheer???
