As far back in my memories
At least those I can recall
My Dad watched his westerns
Cowboys he recalled them all,
From Hopalong Cassidy
To the Ranger John Hart
There's Fess Parker
William Calhoun
Richard Boone
With a Rook on his card
Audy Murphy, Gene Audrey
On my Dad loved them all.
John Wayne was his favourite
He once talk to his Dad
Oh what a proud moment
For my loving Granddad,
Zane Grey he'd read
Until the break of dawn
I think it taught how
To in life carry on,
At first I saw him as
My sworn enemy
Then after may fights
He alone saw the good in me
He became my hero
I hated the day he died,
I'm was not of his flesh and blood
He saw me not as mud
But as clay to be molded
Into the man that I am
No one dares to say I can't
I to them say, Oh, yes I can.
He taught me his love of westerns
He taught me to overcome hate
Everyday I miss him so
With a heart that'll not abate.
