Wet Grave

We were sucked into a frigid cave,
ice cold water swalloed us whole
and discarded us
beneath the cliff we fell from.
Hidden in the belly of the beast,
burning agony kept me warm
and grief held me like a lover.
Memories flowed like tears
as I held him hoping my embrace
would bring him back.
I swallow the pain to endure
but each gulp, full of bitter pills,
unleashes the pain all over again.
All my days I'll mourn you
as a willow tree born to weep;
singing your praises
deep within my broken heart.
