It's a new day but someone has to pay
Most of us are young there is some old We all fight hard and do what we're told
We are trained to kill we are worth our weight in gold we can walk 20 miles for a fight because we are strong and bold
I fight and I will hold my ground as my comrades fall down for all around
I hear my brother's dying I hear my sister crying
What are we fighting for it’s been a long time and I don’t remember anymore
The ground is covered in red so many are dead
Blindness we go into to battle bards will tell tales of are bravery and sing songs of our loyalty
I smell the smoke and it just makes me choke
But we continue to March and fight all day and into the darkness of night
I can hear the bullets fly by and one just miss my right eye
I hear my brother's dying I hear my sister crying
What are we fighting for it’s been a long time and I don’t remember anymore
I lay here in the mud with the dead all around their blood and guts scattered all over the ground
We are the very last ones everyone else is either far away or they are dead we will make our stand together as brothers in arms we stand together and are eyes are focus on what is ahead
We gather our courage to fight to the last man to stay alive I’m soaked in red from my feet to my head and I tell myself I will survive
I hear my brother's dying I hear my sister crying
What are we fighting for it’s been a long time and I don’t remember anymore
We fought hard but turn them away we won the field of battle today
We may have won a very small victory for the price that had to be paid I cleaned my rifle the got ready for the next fight my dead comrades to rest they are laid
We sing songs as we march to honor our dead we marched all day and then we camped as I lay my head to rest in my bed
I hear my brother's dying I hear my sister crying
What are we fighting for it’s been a long time and I don’t remember anymore
