What I Can't See

What's at my back
I can't see.
And I can't see what's
Under the depths of the sea.
I can't see the past that is
Bleak and forgotten.
And I can't see the path
Long left trodden.
I can't see the farmers
Sweating in the fields.
And I can't see in the food
The labour concealed.
I can't see my father,
For me, wandering the world
And moving the stones.
And I can't see
Behind my success,
His days of moans.
I can't see the womb where
My mother borne me
For nine months.
And I can't see her
Sleepless days and months.
I can't see the truth,
That's hidden and unspoken
And I can't see
Behind my living,
All those kiths, kin and men.
