What is poetry?
That I should write it?
A collection words,
inked to a page?
is it mere rhyming,
That I should undertake?
No, but to bless the soul,
Is why we right.
To show our emotions,
To overcome the night.
Poetry is not words on the screen,
But emotions that have a meaning.
Like life it can be confusing,
Unlike love it can be misusing.
For love is no feeling of the heart you see,
But more a state of humility.
Love is not cruel, mean, or harsh.
For the lack of love those things are a part.
And now love I dare explain,
Even though it confounds my brain....
Love is putting others before yourself,
Even when they don't deserve it.
And love is showing others care,
Even they themselves do not.
Love is stopping to listen,
Even when you just want to hear;
The crying orphan.
The sobbing widow.
The scared child.
The confused student.
The blind elder.
Love is showing others that you care,
And humility is doing it when no one else is there,
to see how kind you are.
Just be kind,
And don't expect a reqward.
For you already got it,
And in heaven it is stored.
Yes poetry is like love,
If you use it right.
To guide other in life,
And to teach others what is right.
This may be a long poem,
And that I know,
But in taking time to read it,
In your heart you will grow.
