"What Mama Said"

I always wanted to kick it on the block
Watching from the third story window of how men sereved up rock
Watching get away cars bend them conors from my spot
Bullet holes in the wall and a body lying on the floor
Police asking questions but nobody talking, I seen it all before
I knew about the consequences, cop doging and hitting fences
I looked beyond that and saw the jewels, woman and benzes
These guys seem like close friends that is always about money
Mama caught me staring out the window looking at me funny
She said "they all come and go by the plenty"
She kept me in cause she use to say "this is gods house and outsides where the devil stay"
I ignored all of her warnings cause my mind had already settle
Now I'm fourteen and getting into a little bit of trouble
No pops around so I would stay out late at night playing in the puddle
Mama worked hard, clocking them long hours
I was hitting the block clocking my guns for hell showers
Nobody's taking this block cause it was ours
Mentality is stuck on a warzone cause of the place I call home
Real goons I kicked it with while not giving a fuck
I was living the american dream till mama saw me stashing away my cream
Her face began to start running a stream like a river
Telling me "It's true, it's no longer just a rumor"
I put my head down disappointed because I didin't see her
She asked me why do I do this and I reply with "we're bearly getting by"
It hurted me more than her cause I saw the pain in her eye
She leave my room and stays sited at the table and as I grab my pistole
I was getting ready to head out to serve cain to some able
She said "Them streets are going to kill my baby"
Telling me that she hasn't been sleeping right lately
I turned around to close the door
The last thing I saw was her tear hit the floor
I never seen my moms so hurt before
Put that shit to the side cause once I hit the streets I gotta be hardcore
I was fourteen then hanging out with real devilsh man
Packing a four four and some drugs now that's a hot pocket
Add two years to my age cause that's what the judge gave
Sixteen and I'm finally home but my mama said "I've been all alone"
Now she's trying to preach to me about my friends
I'm thinking "aw man, not this shit again" not really willing to listen
She asks me "how many went to vist while you were in prison"
I didint answer cause there was nobody I really could mention
I'm on house arrest so I couldn't leave and get away from the tension
Mama said "you think they were hurting when I was stressing"
Being hardheaded so I wasn't really paying attention
Mama said "you still ain't learn your lession"
I'm sitting just thinking about all that paper I'ma be chasing
Mama said "don't brake my heart cause them streets gonna kill my baby"
Some months go by and I'm finally back on the block
Me and my boys were headed to this new spot one of them found
It was dark and pretty sketch but I had to prove myself for respect
Homie telling me "we gonna get this cake mix" I'm like "Ight bet"
The five of us walking threw it just to meet the new connect
I feel a sharpe sting in my neck, put my hand on it and it feels wet
I got shoved to the floor and they starting kicking me everywhere
They busted my head wide open and cracked a few of my ribs
I felt a fist hit the front of my lips and another one on my head
I heard a click clack and then they left me dead on the ally way floor
I never thought my friends could be so raw to one of their own
I don't think I know the reason behind it other than all my loot was gone
They took my Jordans, work, chains and golden rings
I should have listened to my mama when she was warning me about these things
Mama said "these friends of yours aren't who they really seem"
I guess she was right about the streets cause it finally done killed her baby
My mama said lots of things to me but never an I love you.
