What Still Lingers
You watered this barren land,
Even if just once.
You hummed rhythm into its rugged silence,
Breathed life into its aching dust.
Your eyes poured warmth across this land,
Like the morning sun slowly walking over yesterday’s cold.
Almost a desert
And yet, you bloomed in its brittle heart.
Even if just once,
You draped a linen of silver across its skies,
To hush the harsh winds.
And in that stillness,
You reminded this land of a forgotten echo
Of how it once felt to be held.
And even as the silence returns,
This land remembers.
