He fell in love with a lady whose origin I did not know of
But he had fallen in love
And I was glad
Though I had found it hard to accept at first
He didn't forget me as I had expected it to go
He didn't chat with me less
Or make fun of me less
He didn't give me less attention
Even when I needed him least
Though his corrosive remarks
That cut as sharp as a hot knife would slice through butter
About my wrong decisions
Or my messy hair
My childish behavior
My height
Or my all too quick judgment
Still my heart is glad
For this friendship to last
A gift from God
So even know that my best friend has fallen in love
I know despite it all
He will be here for me
