WHEN YOUR THOUGHTS SURFACE
Having nothing to do I thought to write you a poem,
So, I picked up my diary and skimmed through the pages and stopped at the one which was as fresh as new.
Poetry no. 769
"Last hour with you
You were smiling like every other day,
But you didn't meet my eyes and I let the thought slip away,
I waited for you to speak first and tell me everything you did the whole day,
But you kept quiet and stared at the floor in dismay,
I thought to ask you about what happened,
What happened to the cheerful face?
Why is it in so much daze?
Before I could, you forwarded a paper which you had held,
The more I read the more heavy it felt,
It was a notice that you were leaving,
leaving my hand, my heart and me,
I looked at you, but couldn't because my eyes were blurry,
When I blinked my eyes, there was neither you nor the paper..."
___
When I blinked my eyes, there was neither you nor the paper,
But me and my wet diary.
The only place where you are
closer to me than ever was!
