Where do we go?

Where do we go when our lights flicker off?
What happens after we sputter our last cough?
Where does the soul go, blackened as it is?
Allow me to share my hypothesis.
Out go the lights, we sit in the dark.
No one appears, but loneliness isn't present.
On our reminiscing quest we embark.
A continuation of a life we reinvent.
Along the way we see many faces.
Emotions, however, we have none.
A cold gaze grazes over many places.
Recognition is but a long run.
At the end of our journey,
It becomes truly black.
We leave ourselves our own attorney.
To show exactly where we lack.
