Where I Am From.

Where I Am From.

The talking drums beat a tune of defeat

Around the village square we feast

The old chief tell a tale of time past

Of a world coloured blue and vast

I was thirteen when they came

Promises of reflections, our hands they maim

White as the angels above with heart of the devil

We prayed inches we were dragged to the anvil

In chains we sang songs of freedom

Our women was raped and strangled

Our children was treated like animals

Look at me, see my scars my hands are gone

Heaven's was unkind, disgusted with my kind

I still sing my tale, my memories are blurred with time

The say time heals all, if say I say it be charged with a crime

If I forget, if my memories is sinks beneath the clouds

As my tears fall like rolling stones, my soul avowed

Take me home to my kin, my kind

Lest my soul my captors bind

Take me home my eyes are blind

Take me home, let me dine with my ancestors

Let me breathe freedom in my kingdom
