Where the light went quiet

Where the light went quiet
The evening swallowed the last gold quietly,
And the trees stood still like mourners in prayer.
Even the wind forgot its music,
Leaving the world dressed in unfamiliar silence.

An empty chair faced the doorway for days,
Holding the shape of vanished laughter.
Cups cooled untouched on the table,
While memories wandered room to room barefoot.

Somewhere, a river carried a name downstream,
Polishing it softly against stone and time.
The stars listened without speaking,
Their distant shimmer trembling like unshed tears.

Yet dawn still stitched light into the horizon,
As though hope had survived the storm.
And in the hearts left behind,
A quiet flame refused to surrender.
