They said they’d stay
but silence came louder than the lies.
Not with a scream,
but with the stillness that follows goodbye.
I held a future shaped in whispered vows,
but it cracked beneath the weight of empty eyes.
Love didn’t die it disappeared,
one broken promise at a time.
Sorrow moved in like an old friend,
filling the rooms they left hollow.
I searched for closure in shattered reflections,
but found only defeat in the echo.
Hope, once given, now burns like betrayal a cruel gift wrapped in warmth and retreat.
There is no thunder when hearts break,
only the quiet sound of retreating feet.
I loved them still
even when they became the reason I bled.
And that's the cruelest kind of heartbreak:
missing someone who taught you how to hurt
and still wishing they had meant what they said.
