~Whiskey Memory~

Just a memory memory, seeing you walk through
that door, order another shot of lonely, then i recite a
little more. thinking I had to have you to function,
holding down this corner booth, wadding in a lake of
sorrow, drowning in this hundred proof.
Reflection of an empty bottle, no strength left here
to crawl, it's hard to walk on your own, dealing with life's
withdrawals. The first step always the hardest, but
acceptance will set you free, mapping a route to escape,
holding a whiskey memory.
Life in a half full glass, leaning on something greater
than myself, talking with mirror of people and relying
on one another for help. So many years in the bottle,
pouring everyone here a shot, in a circle of that image,
the ending.....a different plot.
Full bottle and standing tall, everyday life on the
stairs, arriving early to make the coffee, staying late
to put up chairs. Now with a kind mind and a clear heart,
leave the past in history, hoping to see you come through that door.....was all a whiskey memory.
