Who doesn't love Brussel Sprouts at Christmas?
To be honest neither do I.
They're always overcooked and soggy.
But I'm willing to give them a try.
What's so special about this veggie?
Nothing much I guess.
Brussel or roast potatoes?
The latter's easier to digest.
The problem with Brussel Sprouts are
So the truth be told.
Once they're on the table
They've gone bloody cold.
I don't want to sound rude or impolite
But I am going to be stout.
If you try to force them upon me
I'm gonna spit them out.
Let me tell you a little secret
Which I've never divulged before.
Brussel Sprouts are much more Appetizing
When they are left raw.
Please don't screw your face up.
Until you give it a go
A Waldorf salad is just divine.
If you don't try you'll never know.
So get out your kitchen knives
Let's get slicing.
In with the chopped Apple and walnuts.
It's so much more enticing.
A little bit of salt and pepper and mayo
Are the finishing touches that you need.
And for a vegetarian
It's just one less mouth to feed.
Family and friends this time of year
Won't be quite as sick.
For turkey has the problem of
Being digested
Way too bloody quick.
Anyway Brussels aren't just for Christmas.
You can have them when you please.
And until you're ready to use them
They're so very easy to freeze.
So enjoy your Christmas dinner.
And without a shadow of a doubt.
The humble green Brussel Sprout
Is what Christmas is all about.
