Hello African brethren?
Whose only desire is to attain heaven,
But you've forgotten about the place you're living,
I come to you with questions demanding your response,
Who taught you to hate the color of your skin,
That you have to bleach to look like your neighbours?
Who taught you to hate the language of your mother's,
That you only teach your children the tongues of another?
Who taught you to hate the names that you bear,
That you shy away from identifying with them in fear?
Who taught you to hate the gods of your forefathers,
That you gave up their alters and call them demons?
Who taught you how hate your own kind,
That you plan to kill them and steal their possessions?
Dear African,
Who taught you all these?
Who taught you your accent is a sign of failure?
Who taught you your culture is primitive?
Who taught you your neighbour's culture is civilization?
Who taught you to hate yourself,
That you end up losing yourself?
