will I be enough?
A tremor runs beneath my skin,
a fault line born of fear.
Will you see the cracks,
the overthinking mind,
the constant, grasping need
for whispered reassurances?
How to explain the instinct to flee,
to build walls before the storm breaks?
The nagging voice that whispers,
"You bother them, you always do.
"The silent shutdown, the unheard echo.
Will the baggage be too heavy?
This fear of abandonment,
a ghost that trails behind,
clinging to every potential love.
Will the flaws eclipse the good?
The sensitivity, the empathy,
the overflowing heart, the soft-hearted, loving core?
Will it be enough to stay?
Or a reason to leave, for someone more polished,
more neatly assembled?
I crave a moment, just one,
to be held, not to hold.
To let the softness spill,
without the fear of shattering.
I accept the imperfections in others,
knowing we all deserve to be loved
for the jagged edges, the tender spots.
But will they let me love them,
unreserved, and flawed?
Will they run to me, too,
when the world feels sharp?
Will they choose me,in a crowded room of brighter lights?
I dream of a love that heals,
a sanctuary built on understanding,
where past wounds fade,
and we draw the best from each other.
Will I be enough,
with all my cracks and tremors,
to be chosen, to be held, to be loved?
