Love is like an indoor plant.

Neglect it and it will slowly die.
Too much water suffocates it.

Toxic water (toxic relationships) will poison the plants.
The plants will take in every drop they can because it needs the water.
But the plant will only suffer from it.
Plants can either grow strong and healthy or wither and die.
