Without anyone

Without anyone
Maybe that day will come, when people will be none,
And I’ll lie in a field, alone beneath the sun.
With thoughts that drift through me, yet never come undone,
A quiet kind of freedom, where I am only one.

And when that moment finds me, I won’t break or run,
I’ll breathe it in like silence, like something softly won.
I’ll live it how I want to—no rules, no need to shun,
No voice to tell me otherwise… no need to be outdone.
