WONDER WAITING EYES

The clock stuck twelve, as i took a side
Pondering over 'Survival of the fittest' that our ancestors told to abide..
As i shrugged off my lonely despair,
I caught hold of my blanket against the AC's air..
The filthy figure of my milkman popped up: How? I dont know..
Not a 'man' , just a boy of thirteen, though!
Can you imagine, such a tiny boy,
Whose age is not of toil, but toy..
Where we long for posh houses and owning a lavish car,
Away from dirt and squalor: their longings go just this far!
Their wide starry eyes show the universe they hallucinate to see,
But hardly do they curse God, whatever the situation may be!
Where we try to be fit to show off our muscles and whitened skin tones,
Their hunger and malnutrition without saying, pops out their fragile bones!
A pathetic face with two large wonder - waiting eyes
What they'd feel, when laughed at, for their shape and size?
Crying and crying, their eyes get dry,
May be sometimes, they look up and ask, "Only We, But Why" ?
Eyes jet black, like the loneliness of night
Soles icy blue, like a glacier's terrific sight!
Limbs lie lifeless, dull like grey..
Coz' they are treated like the curd's useless whey!
But i feel that this injustice is not done..
Because we are all humans, so why only them to shun?
Their 'lifeless living' has the dire need to be exposed out,
And to practise equality, we should never be in a state of doubt.
So, poverty is for me, none but toil,
Being attached to just work and soil.
But, there are ample examples before us,
Of paupers, who have not made their life a muss.
From our IAS officers to our great Prime Minister,
There are endless people who didn't make their life sinister..
Instead, they rose out and shined like a star,
Although their dreams were really a lot far!
Thus, i believe and everyone should,
Try to do the best that one could.
Whatever God does, is for our own benefit,
And a web of positivity and hard work, we should knit.
So, i feel that poverty is neither a curse nor a punishment,
Sky should be the limit ; not creed an instrument.
