A weight hangs heavy on my soul
As mistakes take their toll
My efforts, they do abound
Yet worthlessness still surrounds
A shadow follows in my wake
An unwelcome, constant ache
My best is what I give
But failure seems to live
Oh, cruel and relentless foe
Why must you cause me woe?
I am but human, flawed
Yet with each misstep, I'm clawed
Alas, my heart grows tired
My spirit, once inspired
Now a mere ember in the dark
Where once it burned like a spark
