Has anyone ever said that your dreams are impossible or that you won’t achieve them? This could come from a mean friend or even a negative family member. Have you ever told yourself that you can succeed, regardless of how long it takes? There is a girl named Jasmine Maryann Carrillo Cruz who has always had a passion for writing, whether it’s songs or fiction. She hopes to become an author someday.
Once, a girl named Jasmine got into trouble and was grounded for several months. This happened in 2019. During her restricted free time, Jasmine decided to write instead of feeling bored. Even before being grounded, she would try to draw or start a story whenever she was bored and needed something to do. Most of the time, her attempts didn’t go as she wanted. For example, she often tried this at church or in school, especially during home economics and science classes. In science class, Jasmine faced trouble for something she did, but what her teacher said stayed with her. In middle school, she discovered her love for storytelling. What started as a fun activity grew into a hobby. By her graduation in 2021, she realized it meant much more to her. Looking back, she remembered that her passion for writing started in elementary school when her classmates had an assignment to make a book of fictional stories in the fourth grade. After that, Jasmine would go home and try to do the same. Her dad always gave her paper to help her create a book. Now, at eighteen, Jasmine was facing the challenges of becoming an adult. However, in 2021, she went through a tough time after losing her mother to cancer. While most teenagers often have a rebellious phase, Jasmine didn’t experience that until later. She made several bad decisions, like rushing into a relationship and moving in with her partner too soon, only to realize later that she should have taken her time. Jasmine regrets how she treated her family for the sake of a guy, and things worsened when she fell deeply in love with him. Now, in 2025, she has figured out how to capture people's attention to share her story and showcase her music. Jasmine genuinely believes that the year she chose to rebel was a mistake, and the punishment for that has been everything she has endured over the years. At one point, Jasmine started smoking, thinking that no one could control her and that she could live her life as she wanted. Despite the challenges, she continued to give this guy chances and pursued her passion for writing stories and songs. Writing became a way for her to cope with life's ups and downs, especially since the guy she loved often let her down. The issues they encountered were not typical, like cheating, but in 2023, Jasmine chose to take things more seriously, even if her story wasn’t perfect or how she had imagined it. She moved forward, knowing that others might see her as strange, but that did not concern her. After a difficult period in her life, she understood that she was partly responsible for what had happened. Jasmine is not satisfied with her current life because she wants to accomplish more. While she works towards her dreams of becoming an author and songwriter, she continues to deal with adult life. She encourages everyone to pursue their dreams, regardless of others' opinions. Jasmine believes that one day her dreams will come true, even though it has already taken her five years. She hopes for a better future. The end.
