YOU'RE THE ONE

YOU'RE THE ONE

When it first started,

A witticism, I thought it was.

Never knew we would have parted,

Never thought it would come to this.

To know that my love had gone amiss,

Today I am walking around, a soulless body,

So confused like a jigsaw puzzle:

A riddle of the brain.

I'm walking so slow, like a predator

Slinking after its prey,

Watching from behind the fence, sullen in gray,

Just to get a glimpse of you playing in the playground.

Worry not, dear, for you are never far from me,

Deep within my heart is a little box,

Reminding me of how things used to be,

When happiness dissolved melancholy.

Your mother spoke to the lawyers,

Told them I was no good around you.

Why such lunacy, I have no clue.

The lawyers spoke to the judges,

Told them I was no good around you.

I sat there listening to the verdict,

With nothing left to do.

The judge gave your mother a letter

That is keeping me away from you.

But don't worry,

I'm to blame and I'm sorry.

When the sun sets, it will rise again,

The love I keep for you will keep me sane,

Until we meet again.

Every time I walk around the park,

Watching little boys and girls

As they play in the playground,

I remember when you'd run around,

Playing hide and seek in the compound.

Now it is a lonely place,

Happiness has lost its case.

But worry not, dear,

Do not fear,

For you are never far from me.

With this box I keep for you in my heart,

Nothing can obliterate it.

The outside might look like scars,

But deep within is a paradise well fit.

You are the one,

The only reason why life's fun.

Your laughter and smile brighten my day,

And I'll continue to hold on to these memories,

Until we meet again, hun!
