Zephyr

Staring out
Bellowing clouds tumbling in
Bleakness follows the thundering roars
Resting against my windowsill
My elbows are complacent
Time to daydream this melancholy away
Flashes of lighting reflect in the window
My eyes stare pensively without a flinch
Precarious delusions roam freely without end
The sound of rain pouring intensifies
Turning into drowned out whitenoise
I continue to bask in this temporary escape
Howling winds hiss at my abstraction
Clinging to fantasies while fearing reality
I ignore this sinking feeling
A knock at my door pulls me away
Causing me to startle and lose my vision
A harsh voice yells from the other side
After accepting the inevitable abuse
I let my body become a punching bag
Keeping quiet, not letting out a single cry
Bruised and hurt both physically and emotionally
I rest my elbows on the windowsill again
However, the worlds I once explored are no longer there
Tears finally tumble down my cheek
Why now do I let out this pitiful weep?
For my reason for enduring has ceased
I cry till the rain ends and the clouds part
Finally emotionless on the windowsill
I feel something touch my injured heart
I feel warmth in its presence
But in its shyful nature it flees
Finally with its reassurance I can once again see
All thanks to this compassionate breeze
