Shadows That Never Saw
I gave you my purest light,
my most sincere heartbeat,
and still your eyes never saw me.
You let me fall into a frozen silence,
moving away while I burned
in the hope of your return.
Every day I remind myself:
you did not deserve my fire,
nor my giving, nor my open soul.
It was solitude that held me,
not your absent love,
that made me walk toward you
like one walking among ruins
without expecting comfort.
And even with the pain etched into my chest,
I keep the truth in my shadow:
I was the one who chose myself first,
I was the one who knew how to see
beyond what would never return.
