Acceptance
I waited in the darkness
Under blankets like a flood
I sucked the air right from the sky
My face flushed bright with blood
I asked the world for kindness
But one way was to learn
I had to walk upon the thorns
My tears they had to burn
My body had to scream
My mind it had to storm
My stomach had to turn
My heart to ache for warm
My soul to yearn for affection
My life brought to the ground
Yes I had no choice in all of this
Then to be broken lost not found
And then upon my knees
Scraped bitter torn and gone
I could finally hear the whisper
I could finally hear the song
No love no life no human
Can heal what only you give
No preacher power or passion
Would teach me how to live
Only in the acceptance
Of who I have always been
Would I find the deepest love
And would I truly be seen
A
