Lost in a Modern World
I try to pull myself together, yet I fall again,
Into doubts and thoughts that circle in my brain,
So no one notices, I play the fool somehow,
Because the world outside judges wrong… doesn’t it now?
I wish somehow that things could be changed,
To smile again, not feel my soul so strained,
The elders say: enjoy your youth while it’s here,
Or later in life you’ll live only with fear.
But it’s not that easy, lost in their view,
Times have changed, the future feels strange and new,
Too much technology, too few hearts that are true,
Does anyone see that this isn’t good too?
Some have forgotten to walk outside,
Others forgot how real life feels inside,
They stare at screens and cold shining lights,
Forgetting life lives beyond walls and bright sites.
